The largest contract for multi-system locomotives in Poland. The European launch of the PESA 654 EMU for a Czech operator. A presentation of the Coradia iLint, the world’s first hydrogen-powered train in commercial service, and the state-of-the-art electric Traxx DC3 locomotive, are only some of the attractions of Day 2 of TRAKO 2021, the 14th International Railway Fair, held in Gdańsk. On Wednesday, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA summed up a project worth over PLN 1 billion, including EU funding under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The investment has improved the connection between the port of Gdańsk and the railway network. It also entails a better quality and comfort of presentation on the exhibition tracks which are used at TRAKO.

“We run railway projects with efficiency to increase the ability to travel and transport goods. The investment covering the port of Gdańsk access tracks will not only increase the goods handling capability in the port or the efficiency and safety of rail transport but will also improve transport in the city and provide better display opportunities on the tracks next to the MTG SA Gdańsk International Fair,” said Ireneusz Merchel, CEO of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA.

“We are happy that PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA has prepared railway access to the port of Gdańsk and increased transport capabilities in this way. It is very important that both transport and port operations were ensured during the works. By expanding the access infrastructure on the land side, the largest Polish port raises service standards, increases competitiveness and strengthens its position on the Baltic Sea,” said Łukasz Greinke, President of the Port of Gdańsk Authority SA.

“Rolling stock and railway machines are displayed for the first time in a new setting: the exhibition tracks of the Gdańsk Zaspa Towarowa (Freight) station. Owing to the investment from PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA, the quality and comfort of presentation at TRAKO are definitely changing. This creates even greater opportunities to use the area of AMBEREXPO and the Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk stadium,” added Andrzej Bojanowski, CEO of the MTG SA Gdańsk International Fair Co.

TRAKO Day 2 features multiple debates on the prospects for the development of the Polish railway infrastructure, new technologies and solutions for the railways with participation from government representatives and industry experts.
